We've gone carbon neutral – here’s how (and why) we did it
We’re proud to announce that Pretty Bean Coffee Co Ltd is now a carbon neutral business.
This milestone reflects not just a shift in how we operate, but a deep commitment to our planet and future generations. Climate change is one of the most pressing challenges of our time, and we believe every business has a role to play in building a more sustainable world.
What does it mean to be carbon neutral?
Being carbon neutral means that we have measured the total carbon emissions generated by our business operations and taken steps to reduce what we can and offset what we can’t. The result - our net carbon footprint is zero.
This includes emissions from:
• Electricity and heating
• Business travel and commuting
• Product shipping and logistics
• Waste and water usage
How we got there
Achieving carbon neutrality wasn’t a one step process, it was a journey. Here’s how we made it happen:
1. Measuring our footprint
We have partnered with sustainability experts to carry out a comprehensive audit of our operations. Understanding our impact was the essential first step in tackling it.
2. Reducing emissions
Next, we made key changes across our business:
• Upgraded to energy efficient systems and appliances
• Improved waste management and increased recycling efforts
• Optimised our supply chain for lower impact produce, materials and transportation
3. Offsetting what remains
For the emissions we can’t eliminate (yet), we’ve invested in certified carbon offset projects such as reforestation, renewable energy, and carbon capture initiatives that actively remove or prevent emissions elsewhere.
Why it matters
We know sustainability isn’t a trend it is a responsibility. Becoming carbon neutral is one step in a broader mission to integrate environmental consciousness into everything we do. It matters to our team, our customers, and our community. Most importantly, it’s a promise that we are here not just to do good business, but to do good.
What’s next?
We’re now working toward becoming climate positive, where we go beyond zero and actively create a net benefit for the planet.
